On Saturday 13th May Malou gave birth to her B-litter.
She
already started preparing for the delivery on Thursday evening around
midnight. On Friday morning she was really craving our attention and she
refused to be alone. Therefore we took turns keeping her company. It really
was a rather pleasant chore because we just lay around watching TV while
Malou circled around us and cuddled under the covers. We were expecting the
delivery to start during the night but we were wrong. We also spent all day
Saturday keeping Malou company because she still did not want to be left
alone in the room. At ten o’clock pm the water broke. It was my son Mathias
who was keeping Malou company at the time and he called me immediately. When
I came into the room I lied down in the bed next to the maternity-box.
Instantly she left the box and went underneath my covers._small.jpg)
She was having
labour
pains and at 10.15 pm the first kitten was born. It was a red male. Fifteen
minutes later at 10.30 pm the second kitten was delivered. It was a blue-tortie
girl, the first of this colour variation in Denmark ever. After having given
birth to two kittens she moved her new “children” into the maternity-box and
started to take
care of them. I felt that there still was a kitten more inside her and it
was born at 11.50 pm. It was a cream male. All the kittens are in great
shape. It is very big kittens with a birth weight of 122-124 grams. It is
normal for kittens to weigh around 80 grams at birth so we are very proud of
our B-litter.
