Here you will find information about the upbringing of the kittens.
The site will be regulary updated untill the kittens are ready to leave our home
On the 13th january Victoria gave birth to her second litter. You can read more abouth the actual birth under birth.
It was 4 very large kittens
who weighed between 104 and 126 grams which is a very well
done. Normally you expect a kitten to weigh between
60 and 80 grams at birth. A nything below 60 grams is considered critical and anything above 80
grams is positive provided that the female has enough milk to feed them.
The kittens will use the early days eating to become big and
strong. Their Mother, Victoria, is a very good caretaker and it is a
pleasure to watch a cat-mom be so proud of her kittens.
Allthough in the beginning she prefers to have the kittens
to herself. But as the first week went along she became more and more
relaxed when the kittens were weighed and looked at. As long as they do not
cry to much.
Now the kittens are 1 week old and they ar doing just
fine. The have all put on the necessary weight during their first week, so
they are well prepared for their second week in which we expect them to open
up their eyes. They have all started opening their eyes on their 7th day
except for the the blue/white kitten. Later in hte week the had all opened
up their eyes.
Also this week the kittens have spent their time with their
mother concentrating on growing.
Victoria is still very happy taking care of her babies, but
she also enjoys a quick visit with the other cats. As soon as she puts her
head out the bedrrom door our tomcat Tim is ready for her. He is very keen
to see his children and very interest in trying to mate with Victoria again
The kittens are more awake now but still very dependent
on their mother who is very proud and happy with them. They have become good
at moving around in their nest and are quite good at keeping their head up.
Their "walk" is mora of a paddle than an actual walk.
It seems that the male kitten will be a perfect show cat
because his head markings arre almost symmetrical and the is no colour on
the ears. The tail also looks perfect so now we can just hope that no extra
body spots will appear.
At this age the kittens look very cute now that the eyes are
open and you can sense that they are looking at you.
Now the kittens are 3 weeks old and are more awake than earlier. They are still very small and unsure when walking but have started moving around without the belly touching the surface. Off course they are still unsre when walking but they are improving rapidly. They have started exploring the world outside the nest but they do not like being away from the mother or siblings for to long. But they do enjoy when we putm our heads in the nest to talk to them and they are becoming more and more interested in us. We have also started taking the kittens out in to the rest of the house so that the other cats and their mother can get used to the idea that eventually they have to be introduced to each other. It is going great when we take the kittens into the living room and Tim is very curious about hte kittens and especially in finding out if Victoria wants to mate again. But for now she is not in the mood. Victoria accepts that all the other cats are close to the kittens except for our Angora. To day the kittens had a visit from a future catowner and we talked about names for the kittens. All of our kittens form the E-litter are to be named after musicians or singers who starts with an E
